I didn’t plan to have $100. It just… kind of happened.
Some birthday money here, a few bucks from helping my neighbor carry groceries, and then $10 from my cousin for fixing her iPad charger (which I only kind of knew how to do). I wasn’t trying to make money, but suddenly there it was — a soft, crumpled stack of cash that made me feel older than I actually was.
I just stared at it for a bit. I didn’t even want to spend it at first. It felt weird — like it wasn’t real yet. I had this instinct to hide it away, maybe tape it behind a poster or stick it in a shoebox with old Pokémon cards. But then the weekend came.
And so did bubble tea. And snacks. And a late-night in-game skin drop I had been waiting for. I didn’t go wild or anything — I wasn’t walking around yelling “I’m rich!” — but I definitely felt lighter. Not just in mood. In wallet.
By the end of the week, I had about eight bucks left. And I couldn’t even remember everything I spent it on.
That bugged me. Not because I regretted it (okay, maybe the second bubble tea), but because I realized: I didn’t feel in control. The money had shown up without warning — and then disappeared just as quickly.
So I sat down with a notebook. I wrote down how I got each dollar, and what I spent it on. I didn’t even know it was called income and expenses until I Googled it later. But once I saw the two lists next to each other, something clicked. I could see what was happening. I had been doing accounting without even meaning to.
That tiny moment changed something for me.
Now, whenever I get money — even just a couple bucks — I write it down. And before I buy stuff, I ask: Will I remember this in a week? If the answer is no, I think twice. Not always, but more than before.
If you’ve ever randomly made money, what did you do with it?
Hide it? Spend it? Save it? Tell me — I’m still figuring it out, and I kind of want to know how others do it too.e it dance with you—not without you. Control the flow. Ride the rhythm. Keep the good vibes spinning—and your wallet full enough for the encore.
